 Fine, but not loud enough. July 31, 2010

I bought these speakers to add a little volume to my 17" MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, the volume isn't any louder than my MacBook's . The MacBook has outstanding speakers for a laptop, but I'm disappointed that these speakers aren't any louder at all. I honestly didn't expect much for the price, and that's what I got, not much.

I ordered these speakers because I was looking for something small to replace the original Dell speakers I bought with my first computer, they worked great but Dell has discontinued that style.
Anyway, these are even smaller, but that's good for my space limitations. The problem is I cannot adjust the speaker properly. I can never get it loud enough. Also when turning on the computer in the morning, I get this loud sound coming from them which I can't control. I prefer speakers I can turn on or off, but these are always on. I've only had for about a month so I don't know about durability, but because of the low price of these, I can afford a better product when these wear out.

Ordered these speakers for my desktop at work. No hassle setting them up; plugged them into the USB port on the back of my monitor, and they showed up as a "USB AUDIO" device in Sound preferences. But the volume range is horrible; the lowest volume setting is far too high, and nearly indistinguishable from the highest volume setting (save for the ensuing distortion).
Since the system volume controls just map to the volume controls on the speakers themselves (which would be a nifty feature otherwise), there's nothing I can do to get the volume to a reasonable level except manually adjust the volume controls in the apps that provide them (like iTunes), and avoid other apps that don't have independent volume controls.

Very happy and satisfied, wanted to create a professional look at home, remove the wires and junk, perfect speakers for the price.
you get what you pay for, these can easily sell for double in price and I could still see the value.
