Good "little" system July 30, 2010 Delphine D. Coffey Someone was smart enough to put a chord long enough to place speakers away from computer
Great for a USB speaker - good aesthetics - moderately hollow sound July 27, 2010 Mark (New York) This is a great little speaker for those who just want to monitor audio as well as office environment music playing (relatively low volume, no kicking bass).
The sound is quite hollow - especially when placed too close together. However, wide separation and substantially increased volume does provide a crisp stereo experience. NOTE: try aiming them at your ears (and more towards one another) rather than parallel to one another.
A slight modification would make these much more useful:
- the dial on top should control volume AND power.
- the power switch on the back should be replaced with a headphone jack...
Pretty decent for price July 11, 2010 Georgina Saravia (San antonio, Texas United States) I didn't have any speakers for my desktop computer. I dont have a TV at the moment and wanted speakers so that I could watch netflix. While the quality from the speakers is good the sound is not very loud. I can barely hear the sound if my a/c is running and have to move the speakers pretty close to where I am sitting. If I were just using these speakers on my laptop while studying they would be idea; although not super portable.
I will keep these speakers as backup for my laptop but I am currently looking for another set to use with my desktop computer.
Solid speakers July 10, 2010 nadinemalia I was happy to find a set of speakers that came with USB connection rather than have to use an electrical outlet. They work great and serve their purpose well. Great price and look good!
Excellent speakers for small HDTV July 2, 2010 Virginius (Arlington, Virginia) I purchased the Altec Lansing BXR1220s to replace the tinny, rear-firing speakers on an Insignia 22" HDTV. They do an admirable job - hardly room-filling sound that would drive us out of the kitchen, but nevertheless wider-ranging and much more "listenable" than the set's built-ins. They look nice sitting on the countertop on either side of the screen, and I was able to plug the power cord into a spare USB slot on the back of our cable box. You might want to put a small piece of black electrician's tape on the power LED if you have the speakers facing you at eye level. For the price, highly recommended.
